One month into the New Year and we’re so excited for another year at the farmers market, with a few fresh surprises mixed in.
We’re welcoming some wonderful new faces to the market this season, bringing delicious culinary creations and lots of passion to our community.
Welcome Golden Boy’s to the Flint Farmers’ Market!
Flint Farmers’ Market is proud to announce a new business will be opening next month called Golden Boy’s (@eatgoldenboys), owned by Ahmad Alzahabi, a Flint native who has built a wildly popular online presence over the past six years called The Golden Balance (@thegoldenbalance). He has millions of followers tuning in to see his quick, easy, and fun cooking videos on Instagram and TikTok!
Traditionally gathering many of his recipe ingredients from the Flint Farmers’ Market, he has created strong relationships with many of their current vendors, even mentioning them in his posts. “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Ahmad to the market as a business owner. He has been a huge supporter for many years and really is a success story from Flint!” said Karianne Martus, Market Manager.
Alzahabi is extremely excited about the opportunity, “This is the biggest thing I have done in my life so far.”
Alzahabi, a Flint native and Carman Ainsworth graduate has always wanted to open his own place saying,” I want to help our community eat well and to give back to Flint, the place I grew up – it is really just as simple as that.”
Golden Boy’s will be located in the center aisle of the market (formerly Ichi Lucky Cat Sushi) and will offer some signature items along with many of his emerging online creations. They will be open starting on Saturdays in February and add Tuesdays and Thursdays in March.
I Love Pig Renovations
If you’ve been to the Market lately, we’re sure you’ve noticed the PINK WALL in the back of the market! I Love Pig will expand into Charlie’s Smokin BBQ’s former spot and will open in February after renovations are complete!

Winter=Citrus Season!
- Navel Oranges: seedless, juicy, sweet
- Cara Cara: pink flesh, like a grapefruit, low acid, sweet, mildly-strong orange flavor
- Honey Tangerine: seeded, crunchy, juicy, honey notes
- Blood Oranges: dark red on the inside, stronger orange flavor, easy to peel, some seeds
- Ruby Red Grapefruit: seedless, all year round
- Mandarin (Satsuma): easy peel, like cuties or halos you find at the store, stronger mandarin flavor
