On September 9th, 2025, in collaboration with Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) and Flint Children’s Museum, we unveiled our new hands-on recycling education exhibit that will benefit elementary school-age youth!
More than 10,000 kids between the ages of 2-10 years old visit the market annually, and we are thrilled to deliver hands-on environmental education through the Flint Children’s Museum space at the market.
The exhibit features a recycling scavenger hunt featuring:
- Recycling stream categories with images of “Recycling Raccoon” that covers essential recycling rules, including proper cleaning, keeping items loose and cardboard flattening.
- A magnetic sorting game featuring a custom magnetic table surface with 3D printed game pieces that represent various recyclable and non-recyclable items.
Here at the Flint Farmers’ Market, there’s something for everyone and we’re excited to use creative partnerships like these to bring environmental education beyond the traditional classroom setting.
